Under-sink reverse osmosis systems are perfect for homeowners who want purified drinking water without filtering the entire house. Chicago Water Pros installs compact, efficient RO units that fit neatly under your kitchen sink.
Why Under-Sink RO is Popular
Affordable, easy to maintain, and extremely effective at removing impurities, under-sink RO is a practical choice for most households.
Tank vs. Tankless Under-Sink RO Systems
Under-sink RO systems come in two main options. Both deliver purified drinking water, but they work differently and fit different kitchen setups. Here’s a quick side-by-side comparison to help you choose.
Tank-Based Under-Sink RO
Filters water into a pressurized storage tank. When you turn on the faucet, water flows from the tank.
Best For:
- Families who use larger amounts of water
- Homes connecting RO to a fridge or ice maker
- Budget-friendly installs
Pros:
- Strong, consistent water flow
- No electricity needed
- Great for filling pitchers, pots, and cooking
Cons:
- Takes up more under-sink space
- Tank must refill after heavy use
- More parts = more maintenance
- Potential for stagnant water in the tank
Tankless (On-Demand) Under-Sink RO
Filters water into a pressurized storage tank. When you turn on the faucet, water flows from the tank.
Best For:
- Tight under-sink spaces
- Modern kitchens
- People wanting simple, low-maintenance systems
Pros:
- Saves 50–75% more space
- More efficient, less wastewater
- Fresher water (no tank storage)
Cons:
- Higher upfront cost
- Requires an electrical outlet
- Slightly slower initial flow
